About Us

Us? What us? It's just a web site, one out of the 1,210,383,758 on the internet, you know? We're not talking Time-freakin'-Warner here; this whole operation could be replaced with a crazed hermit in a wood shack in the mountains of Montana and you wouldn't notice any difference. Heck, for all you know, that's already happened...

But since you're here, let me bore you with a few pieces of miscellany.

About Me

The person to blame

I'm Robert Jung. This is my site. Whee.

About the Site

The site is driven by Drupal, augmented with a few home-brewed modules, various bits of PHP code, and a couple'a themes. I know, everybody else loves WordPress and MovingType, but those systems are more oriented towards bloggers-with-some-extra-stuff added on, while I wanted something that was more all-purpose-with-some-blogging-features. And Drupal's good enough for Yahoo! and Spread Firefox, so it can't be that bad.

The site currently has over 1,585 pages; it'd take you roughly 5.283 days to read it all, if you've got nothing better to do with your time.

The original version of this site (known as "Electric Escape v.1") was banged out in the raw heyday of the WWW. The site was primarily raw hand-coded HTML, which made sense at a time when people thought <blink> tags were neat, "broadband" meant Josie and the Pussycats (the comic book, not the movie), and "content management" was a buzzword muttered by crazed hermits in wood shacks in the mountains of Montana.

But as it grew bigger and bigger, maintaining all that hand-crafted code became a bigger and bigger pain in the tuckus. And while we procrastinated greatly on revamping the site (having children is a great way to not get things done), we finally bit the bullet and migrated everything over here.

And now you know. And knowing is half the commercial.
