Updated 9:45am 1/30/06 (Yeah, I know, lots of Pixar-related stuff this week. What can I say?)
For some reason which totally eludes me, there are still a number of folks who are apparently lukewarm over Pixar's next animated movie, Cars. These sentiments generally fall along the lines of "I liked all the other stuff Pixar's done before, but everybody fails sooner or later, and the teaser trailer doesn't seem so hot."
The first half of this sentiment is just depressingly cynical; the second half ignores the historical fact that Pixar's early teasers are merely an introduction to the movie. This is a limitation due to how early those teasers are created -- as Brad Bird pointed out on The Incredibles DVD, the only computer models available for that movie's teaser were Bob and his den, which seriously limited their options.
Anyway, for those of you who are interested in seeing more of Pixar's upcoming Cars, there's a full-length trailer at Disney's Japanese web site, complete with previously-unseen-in-the-West footage and scenes.
For those of you who don't read Japanese, just follow these steps:
1. Click here to go to Disney Japan's Cars web site.
2. Click the big silver button on the right (under "Trailer").
3. In the pop-up window that follows, choose your media format (Real Player or Windows Media) and speed (56K or 300K). The top four buttons have the movie in English with Japanese subtitles, while the bottom four buttons have the movie dubbed in Japanese.
4. Enjoy.
Updated 9:45am 1/30/06: Since it's been outted on Slashdot, here's a link to the full-length international trailer for Cars. Well worth a look-see.
