One of the things that bugs me sometimes is the feeling that I'm not blogging as much as I should. Which is a silly thing to worry about, since I don't know of any quotas or standards on what the "proper" amount of blogging is.
Not that it stops me from worrying about it sometimes; the way I see it, this blog is the only thing on this web site that gets updated on a moderately-frequent basis. There are the Stuff You Should Read headlines, but that's mostly a bunch of interesting (IMO) links, without much personal commentary to them -- and my ego isn't big enough to expect that people are coming to this site just to see what I'm linking to today.
Of course, I'm not sure if my ego is big enough to support a blog, either. I don't usually go for rambling about personal matters just because blathering on about the boring events of a typical day don't seem very exciting -- I mean, I don't find it exciting, so why should you?
So I try to wait until I have something interesting enough to warrant commenting before blogging about it. Which is fine when there's lots of stuff for me to comment on, but not so hot when things are in a lull. I appreciate the lulls, for the chance to get some long-overdue R&R, but they also inevitably lead to questioning about the relevance of my blogging, which then gets into self-referential entries like this one.
But just so this blog entry isn't a total vaccuous piece of self-indulgence, here are a few links to some spiffy web comics that I think are rather keen:
- Copper. If Bill Watterson was doing Calvin & Hobbes on the internet, it'd look like this. Doesn't get updated frequently, but it's worth feasting your eyes periodically.
- Count Your Sheep. It's silly. It's cute. It's (mostly) innocent, and periodically full of pathos. Not really laugh-out-loud funny, but provides sufficient grins-per-strip to warrant a bookmark.
- Dinosaur Comics. The art -- such as it is
-- never changes, but the way Ryan North milks the dialog is worthy of... well, I'm still not sure what, but it's definitely different.
