Sexless virgin nerds vs. Disgrunted gun-toting nuts

[Updated 2:31pm November 17] So what's dumber, being a sexless insecure virgin nerd who's willing to camp out for a week in front of a store to buy a shiny new video game system, or being a disgruntled non-camper who thinks it's okay to do a drive-by shooting on said campers?

(Or can I just give a big "L" to both groups?)

[Updated 2:21pm] Now it's crossed the line from dumb to dangerous -- Camping PlayStation Gamers Robbed at Gunpoint

[Updated 2:33pm] Added image of a PlayStation 3 line, courtesy of "AskFkr" on Slashdot. The accompanying account of the lineup is even funnier:

There is a PS3 line outside the local target that formed yesterday morning. Today we had a HUUUGE storm... To make matters worse for the people in line at Target, last night Target's management had all their cars towed while they stood and watched, everyone afraid to lose their spot in line. My question is....if they are too afraid/stupid to stop their car from being towed...where are they going to the bathroom for 3 days?

Head-slapping smiley It's a fuckin' video game machine, people! Get a life!

[Updated 2:31pm November 17] I've given up trying to follow all the reports of PS3-launch violence. Bookmark this blog entry for the latest muggings, robberies, and riots. Sheesh...

As long as you don't mistake the "recycled" Dew for "fresh" (albeit warm) Dew... ewwwww...

I've just gotta believe...believe...believe that ps3 will
be good.
OK?

I believe.

(no, it's no good...PS3 is starting to look bad)

I don't think the PS3 is bad. I just don't think it's $600 worth of orgasm-inducing stay-camped-out-for-three-days buy-it-on-eBay-for-five-times-the-price good. Hell, for $600, not only should it be 100% backwards compatible and have rumble capabilities, it should also give blowjobs and/or fellatio, depending on the gender and preference of the player...

Seriously though, i do agree with you Rob that US$600 is way too much for this. I've been pretty happy with my PS2 and frankly i am in no rush to go next-gen.
And in no way am I ever going to even think about camping out overnight for a video game machine. Maybe for Cheap Trick...but not a PS3, a Wii or a 360.
Hope my previous comment didn't offend in any way

I've been playing video games for more than 20 years, and I can't work up the enthusiasm for a launch-day campout either. I can see getting to the store a few hours before it opens, but camping for days on end is rather excessive IMO.

Though I admit the last few days I've really been jonesin' for a Wii, especially since I thought it'd be real cool to have one for the obligatory family Thanksgiving get-together. Smiley Went to a store last night and got disappointed to hear I missed the newest shipment by a few hours...
