A Christmas Wii update

[Updated December 26, 12:29am] Well, I've got my Wii unpacked, and here is the obligatory blog post from it.

As for Nintendo's strategy of reaching non-gamers with the Wii, it's hopeful around here. My wife the non-gamer was hesitant at first, but enjoyed goading her mother into trying Wii Sports Tennis, and later bowled a few frames too. Now we're going out and she's suggested we bring it to my mother's for them to try. She sure wouldn't do that with a PS3...

[Updated December 26, 12:29am] After putting our son to bed, my wife and I had the following exchange:

Wife: "So, this new video game thing of yours, it's only for one player, right?"
Me: "No, four people can play if we take turns. I also have another controller, so two people can play against each other if they want."
Wife: "Ah. Er... can we play now? I want to try it again."

After a half-hour of Wii Sports Tennis, she went to bed, largely because of the cold medicine she took earlier this evening. I think she's gonna get hooked... Winking smiley
