I normally don't recommend things that I haven't seen, read, attended, or perused myself, but I'll be making an exception today. Trust me, I know what I'm doing.
While I haven't read it in its entirety -- heck, I haven't even bought the darn thing yet -- I'm recommending y'all go and pick up a copy of Fair and Balanced, My Ass!: An Unbridled Look at the Bizarre Reality of Fox News. As a guy who never bothers to temper his own biases, I wholeheartedly approve of a book that spells out its thesis in such blunt, unambiguous language.
For those of you who can't be sussed to browse Amazon's free preview pages for the book, Fair and Balanced, My Ass! is a collection of anecdotes, transcripts, and quotes that demonstrates how Fox News skews everything to promote Rupert Murdoch's ultra-conservative worldviews, facts be damned (Which wouldn't be an issue if they stopped claiming to be "fair and balanced", or even "news" -- but they do, so it's fair game).
The book is funny, in a biting sarcasm way, so the outrage you feel over the numerous examples of Fox's reality-bending nonsense is tempered by Joseph Amann and Tom Breuer's retorts. Despite the 300-plus pages, the book is a light read; fortunately, the paperback-friendly price makes it an easy impulse buy for political geeks like myself. Yeah, it's a partisan screed, but it readily admits it's a partisan screed, so it already has more integrity and truth than Fox News.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go buy my copy...
