"Silence equals consent" again?

I've refrained from commenting on the recent Ann Coulter/Elizabeth Edwards dust-up just because I don't believe in giving the skank ho (Ann, not Liz) any further attention. I'm firmly convinced that Coulter's bomb-thrower personna is just an act she doffs whenever she needs to make money on speaking tours or promote an upcoming book.

That said, am I the only one who finds it rather odd that none of the Republican 2008 Presidential front-runners have come out to condemn or denounce Ann's remarks? I mean, the slutbag callously wished for (1) a domestic terrorist attack against (2) a political rival, yet none of them could take thirty seconds and say "Ms. Coulter pole-vaulted over the line of public decency; her tasteless remarks are directly lowering the bar of political discourse, and I urge everyone to condemn her hateful rhetoric"? McCain? Rudy? Mitt? Bueller?

And yes, this deafening silence is worth tucking away for a rainy day. After all, today's conservatives are usually the first to condemn moderate moderate Muslims for not fiercely and immediately denouncing bomb-throwing terrorist attacks by their extremist brethren. How is Coulter's verbal bomb-throwing -- and their failure to denounce it -- any different?

It's different because she's (supposedly) Christian. Extremism in defense of my side is no vice.
