Like all good gaming geeks out there, I'm interested in seeing what announcements will come out of next week's E3 expo/summit/nerdgasm love-in. It's a no-brainer to expect a lot of new titles unveiled (or at least announced) for the Nintendo Wii, given how it's stomping the competition into the dirt. But while the other gaming geeks are anticipating big-budget epic titles, there's one game that I would like to see announced for the Wii. It won't appeal to the hardcore, but it'd be a perfect fit for the casual-gaming masses who are rocketing Wii sales to the heavens...
As Nintendo describes it, Clubhouse Games lets you "play more than 40 classic board, card and party games alone, with friends or via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. With familiar favorites like checkers, darts and poker, Clubhouse Games is for everyone ... Clubhouse Games is one-stop gaming that will appeal to everyone’s tastes, whether they’re in the mood for bowling, backgammon, bridge or billiards."
Considering that the Wii is having massive appeal to all sorts of people -- even folks who never thought of themselves as gamers, or were believed to be too old to game -- a collection of forty-some family games with the Wii's super-friendly controller should be an obvious hit. Throw in those adorable Mii caricatures for all players, a low price, and -- most important! -- worldwide online gaming, and it's a can't-miss guarantee for success.
It's so obvious (IMO), and yet I haven't heard a single gaming geek (or professional pundit) even consider this as a possibility. Am I really the first person to suggest this?
Come on, Nintendo -- announce Clubhouse Games Wii next week, and crown me the next video-gaming Nostradamus!
