While driving in to work today, I happened to catch a bit of Thom Hartmann's radio program. My ears perked up a bit when he started talking about TPM's coverage of the little-noted political scandal around former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman.

(Executive summary: Siegelman narrowly lost a 2002 election after Republican pollsters performed a covert post-midnight recount "flipped" 6,000 votes from Siegelman to his opponent. A 2006 attempt to regain the seat was derailed by a federal indictment on charges of corruption, which now appears to have been a set-up by Karl Rove as part of the Bush Administration's politicization of the Justice Department.)

Not being familiar with the Siegelman case, I paid extra attention to Thom's introduction, hoping for him to concisely summarize the issue and bring me up-to-date before I reached the parking lot. Unfortunately, while Thom may be an accomplished author, he's absolutely craptastic at summarization, spending more time boasting about his awareness of the Siegelman controversies than actually summarizing the dang thing.
