Because voters are SCARY!

Okay, so let me get this straight:

  1. The Spanish-language television network, Univision, had to cancel a forum for Republican presidential candidates because all but one of the hopefuls chickened out of the event.

  2. Last night, a group of conservative evangelicals held a Values Voter Presidential Debate for the GOP candidates, but the four leading candidates -- Giuliani, Romney, McCain, and Thompson -- were no-shows, citing "scheduling conflicts".

  3. To complete the trend, Baltimore's Morgan State University (a predominantly black college) has confirmed that the GOP Front Four will be snubbing their debate next Thursday.

Dunno about you, but this brazen cowardliness is something I'll keep in mind the next time one of these blowhards spew some more inflammatory nonsense about their unwavering courage against radical Islamic terrorism...

Perhaps the Republicans have decided to adopt a "shut up and wait for the Dems to self-destruct" strategy? There's more than enough time to sort out who'll be the Republican nominee, no point in giving the prospective Dem any more ammo than necessary.

That's possible, but I could easily imagine myself being rather P.O.'d if I was a member of one of those socio-ethnic groups who got snubbed. The Republicans ignorning blacks and Hispanics is nothing new, of course (and I admit I still categorize "minorities voting for the GOP" as a move right up there with shoving your hand into a ceiling fan), but I thought they'd at least turn up for the Christian fundamentalists.
