Paging Buckner & Garcia

While driving into work this morning, I was listening to my copy of Pac-Man Fever, rockin' my inner geek with some cheesy '80s pop music.

After a while, I realize that it's been 25 years (plus a few months) since the album was first released in 1982.

And then I wondered, "Wouldn't it be cool (in an unabashed geeky way) if someone were to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Pac-Man Fever with a follow-up album?"

Well, I'm no musician, but here's my list of titles for a proposed imaginary sequel to the world-famous classic. In keeping with the spirit of the original, I've chosen titles with just a dose of cheesiness, while reflecting the most popular and influential video-gaming trends of today:

Super Duper Mario

  1. Super Duper Mario (Super Mario Bros. series)
  2. Life In the City (Grand Theft Auto series)
  3. Just Me and My Guitar (Guitar Hero series)
  4. Love on the Battlefield (Metal Gear Solid series)
  5. Wrath of Angels (Halo series)
  6. Caught 'Em All (Pokémon series)
  7. Living on a Gold Farm (World of Warcraft series)
  8. Wii Wanna Play!

Make it so, Buckner & Garcia! It's not like you guys have much to do at the moment... Winking smiley

(It's also worth noting that, aside from Guitar Hero, the only family-friendly titles in the list consist of Nintendo properties. If I were in the mood for social analysis, I'd make a comment about how narrowly focused the "hardcore" video-game audience has become -- but it's easier to just let the numbers speak for themselves...)
