Wright thinking

Submitted by Robert Jung on Tue, 04/29/2008 - 9:14am.

[Updated 5:08pm] A few thoughts on the continuing bruhaha over Jeremiah Wright, Barack Obama's former pastor and ever-popular subject of the mainstream news media echo chamber:

Hey, isn't that a felony?

Submitted by Robert Jung on Wed, 02/20/2008 - 11:12pm.

[Updated February 21, 9:55am] So the latest Circle Of Outrage™ today apparently started on Monday, when Michelle Obama -- wife of presidential hopeful Barack Obama -- addressed a rally in Milwaukee and said:

A Farking great book

Submitted by Robert Jung on Fri, 01/25/2008 - 4:48pm.

If you're anything like me, you've probably given up on the mainstream news nowadays. And who can blame you? Between the demands of a 24-hour news cycle, the blatant bias, the time-wasting celebutard updates, and the death of fact-checking, the only way to stay informed nowadays is to follow the blogs and the comedians for news, and relegate the mainstream media for sports scores and weather reports.

See? They ARE zombies!

Submitted by Robert Jung on Wed, 12/05/2007 - 5:10pm.

Short and sweet: Dan Bartlett, former advisor to George W. Bush, describes conservative bloggers in the January 2008 edition of Texas Monthly:

Get to the %?#*@! point, Thom!

Submitted by Robert Jung on Thu, 08/30/2007 - 8:55am.

While driving in to work today, I happened to catch a bit of Thom Hartmann's radio program. My ears perked up a bit when he started talking about TPM's coverage of the little-noted political scandal around former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman.

Just call me Sledge Hammer

Submitted by Robert Jung on Thu, 05/10/2007 - 11:11am.

I normally don't recommend things that I haven't seen, read, attended, or perused myself, but I'll be making an exception today. Trust me, I know what I'm doing.

Separating the pros from the amateurs

Submitted by Robert Jung on Wed, 04/11/2007 - 6:19am.

See? The reason why this blog is a third-rate lost-in-the-crowd rambling discourse by one schmuck and not an internet-reknown seven-thousand-hits-per-hour high-profile site is because I'm too slow to jump on the blatantly obvious.

Time to goose that resume!

Submitted by Robert Jung on Sun, 12/17/2006 - 10:30pm.

So now that Time magazine has named "You" (or, more accurately, every blogger, podcaster, YouTube-er, and web-content-creator on the internet) as their Man Of The Year, can I go ahead and add that to my list of notable achievements? Winking smiley

Insta-jackpot, O.J.-style

Submitted by Robert Jung on Mon, 11/20/2006 - 11:07pm.

So, now that Rupert Murdoch, News Corp and Fox News got sufficiently hammered to cancel O.J. Simpson's "hypothetical" "confession" to the Nicole Brown Simpson murders -- and yank the accompanying book -- how long will it be before pilfered copies of If I Did It become instant moneymaking jackpots on eBay?

The secret of Keith's success

Submitted by Robert Jung on Thu, 11/09/2006 - 11:22am.

Over at the Firedoglake (Fire Dog Lake? Fired Ogla Ke? Whatever...) blog, they had a Q&A session between the regulars there and MSNBC "Countdown" host (and perrenial favorite firebrand) Keith Olbermann.

Behind the scenes at Nintendo News Network

Submitted by Robert Jung on Thu, 11/09/2006 - 8:28am.

Saw this video clip today from GoNintendo and thought it was worth sharing. It's a promotional newsreel for the Nintendo Wii, featuring PR sound bites from Nintendo of America VP Perrin Kaplan and stock footage of Wii units and games being assembled.

I thought this was worth sharing for two reasons:

Just a quick shout-out for y'all to bop over to Salon, where they have a nice three-page interview with MSNBC's Keith Olbermann (you need to watch an ad to get the full article).

Giving ABC an easy way out

Submitted by Robert Jung on Fri, 09/08/2006 - 8:14am.

As the pressure -- and anger -- mounts ever higher against ABC for their plans to push the one-sided "Path to 9/11" docudrama propaganda, I can't help but feel some sympathy for the big brains at the network.

The rising sh*tstorm in ABC's "Path"

Submitted by Robert Jung on Thu, 09/07/2006 - 1:36pm.

[Updated 2:36pm] For the non-political wonks out there, some more tidbits on the tsunami of indignation that's starting to rise over ABC's ham-fisted partisan hatchet job "Path to 9/11":

Telling off the "I told you so"s

Submitted by Robert Jung on Fri, 03/17/2006 - 7:27am.

Just in time for your weekend reading on the third-year anniversary of Bush's Damn Fool War™, FAIR (Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting) has compiled a list of premature gloating by pro-Iraq war morons.

Even now, the smug contempt and unrestrained cockiness of these self-proclaimed experts practically oozes off the page (or the screen, as it were), which makes the whole kit 'n kaboodle look even dumber as the morass in Iraq gets worse and worse.
