Story

In a voiceover, Vector Prime narrates his life story. Created at the dawn of time by Primus, god of the Transformers, Vector Prime is one of the original thirteen "Primes," destined to serve a specific function in Primus' ineffable plan. Specifically, Vector Prime is the guardian of the space-time continuum, responsible for maintaining the universe's causality.

Vector Prime hangs with the homies.

After a brief explaination of Primus and Chaos as opposing forces of creation and chaos, Vector Prime tells how he waited for the two to lie dormant before leaving for the timestream. In that non-realm, Vector Prime observed events from various continuities, intervening in extreme circumstances to ensure the proper flow of reality. One event Vector Prime fails to prevent is the re-awakening of Primus by the Autobots (a reinterpretation of events from issue #61 of Marvel's Transformers comic); Primus' awakening informs Unicron of his presence, and the ancient conflict begins anew.

Unicron's subsequent destruction (from the end of the Transformers: Armada television show) gives Vector Prime relief, but it's short-lived, as Vector Sigma suddenly sends him an urgent message -- "The Balance... destroyed!" Panicking, Vector Prime opens a portal out of the timestream and heads back to Cybertron, hoping he isn't too late to stop the (unnamed) new calamity...

Notes and Comments

  • Vector Prime's flashback includes references to the following Transformers events:
    • Optimus Prime opens the Matrix to destroy the galaxy-consuming Hate Plague (from the third-season Transformers cartoon episode, "The Return of Optimus Prime");
    • Shockwave holding Optimus Prime's head, forcing him to create the Constructicons (from issue #6 of Marvel's Transformers comic);
    • Stabilizing Optimus Prime's head after it was seemingly destroyed by Megatron (from the Beast Wars cartoon episode, "The Agenda," part 3);
    • Primus being awakened by a stray blast of gunfire (from issue #61 of Marvel's Transformers comic)
  • After the destruction of Unicron, Vector Prime gives thanks to "The One." This appears to be a reference to the creator of both Primus and Unicron, mentioned in Dorling Kindersley's book, Transformers: The Ultimate Guide, by Simon Furman.
