1986 - Transformers: 2010

Transformers: 2010 was Takara's name for the third season of the American Transformers cartoon. As with Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers, some of the shows were simply redubbed with Japanese voices, while others were formed by mixing footage into new stories.

The series focused on Rodimus Convoy (Rodimus Prime) as he led the Cybertrons against Galvatron and the Destron forces. Rodimus Convoy is aided by Char (Kup), Sprung (Springer), Arcee, and Ultra Magnus, even as the Transformers are menaced on a new front by the scheming Quintessons.

The absences of Convoy (Optimus Prime) and Megatron were explained with a scrolling text prologue at the beginning of the first episode. Just as in the west, Convoy is later resurrected in the two-part story, "Convoy's Resurrection" ("Return of Optimus Prime").
